Air France Orders 4100 iPads, But Pilots Can’t Use Them In Cockpit

In the past we’ve seen iPads ordered for pilots to use specifically in cockpits to assist with navigation. However that’s not what’s happening with Air France. France’s flagship airline has ordered 4100 iPads, but they can’t be used in the cockpit due to regulations which don’t exist in the US and Asia, it announced (via MacGeneration).

The iPads will help improve flight security: instead of being on paper, the flight plan will be stored digitally on an iPad.

The iPads will also be used in airports to help feed flyers the latest information. Eventually we could be seeing it in the cockpit of an Air France plane, but for now, due to regulations, Apple’s tablet will have to stay out of it.
