Apple Planning to Release Updated iPods at Next Week’s iPhone Event?

Apple has now officially let the cat out of the bag about their September 12th iPhone event, but that may not be all we see Apple announce next week. According to 9to5Mac, Apple is likely preparing to release updated iPods at the event as well.

Details on the changes coming in these new iPods are currently scarce, but we believe that there will be at least two new/updated iPod lines and possibly a third. […] All these new lines will come in multiple colors, one of the lines will come in two size capacities, and the other two lines will come in a single storage capacity.

While the report doesn’t provide specific details, the site does note that Apple is planning to release three new updated product lines in a variety of colors. The report goes on to claim that two of those products will be the iPod nano and iPod shuffle, although it’s unclear what the third line might be.

Although the iPod touch has been rumored to get a refresh in the near future, the report suggests that all three of the unnamed product lines will come in multiple colors, making it unlikely that the third line will be the iPod touch.

It’s worth noting that 9to5Mac has an excellent track record – but even so, this report is quite vague, and specific details could vary greatly. I suppose we’ll all find out for sure next week!
