AT&T Slashes Return and Cancelation Period to Just 14 Days

AT&T Slashes Return and Cancelation Period to Just 14 Days

Those of you who may be considering making a purchase through AT&T will be less than thrilled to note that, as of Sunday, October 7, the carrier has cut their return period by more than half, from 30 days to just 14 days.

The change was first reported by Engadget as a rumor, based on a leaked notice sent to AT&T staff. AT&T has since issued a statement to MacTrast, as well as Engadget and a host of other sites, confirming that the change is now in effect:

AT&T has updated its device return policy. Consumer customers will have 14 days to return a device for any reason and cancel service without paying an Early Termination Fee. While this begins on October 7, AT&T customers will continue to have the option to update their voice and data plans at any time.

AT&T is the last of the four major U.S. carriers to reduce their return period to 14 days, despite the fact that some U.S. states (such as California) require a 30-day return period. Way to follow suit, AT&T! So much for companies actually considering what’s best for their customers…
