iOS Hacker Comex and Apple Part Ways

Well-known hacker Comex today tweeted that his internship with Apple has ended. Apparently you REALLY should reply to emails at Apple!

9to5Mac:

“So… no point in delaying,” he said to 195,000 followers. “As of last week, after about a year, I’m no longer associated with Apple.” Comex, whose real name Nicholas Allegra, explained to Forbes that his employment at Apple was terminated for not responding to an email.

Allegra explained that the email he neglected to reply to was an offer from Apple to continue his employment as a remote intern. Apple apparently takes such offers quite seriously, as they soon rescinded the offer. “I wasn’t too happy about it, but it didn’t seem like I was able to fix it,” he said. “So that’s what it is.”

Before entering Apple’s employ, Comex was a well known iOS hacker, whose work include such notable achievements as JailbreakMe, a tool to jailbreak iOS devices via an exploit in Safari.

He was asked by Forbes if he’d get back into the iOS hacking arena, but he replied he didn’t foresee workingon any iOS jailbreaking tools for iOS any time soon.

You can read a great profile on Allegra done by Forbes last year at their website.
