Apple Didn’t Build That: Ideas That Apple Bought, Borrowed, and “Stole” (Infographic)

Apple is a massive company, and they’ve been responsible for putting a number of fantastic concepts into the tech world, business, the medical industry, music, and even education. But as with all companies, not all of Apple’s ideas have been entirely their own.

Mashable (via BestMastersPrograms.orgshares an intriguing infographic illustrating a number of ideas that Apple has borrowed from those that came before. Of course, there’s a difference between borrowing, then improving and innovating on an idea (and giving homage to the original authors), and shamelessly copying an idea in a Samsung-esque “me, too!” fashion…

    So many factually incorrect details and ‘suspicious’ wording just to drive an anti-apple opinion. Anyone reasonable that doesn’t own apple products or shares and know half the facts would discount this mostly heap of junk.

    I’m curious about what is becoming a clear anti Apple bias coming from Mashable. I don’t recall it always being this blatant. Lately though they seem to have a serious ax to grind with Apple. But I digress.

    So far as the infographic goes. Well It’s the computer industry, so at some point every steals from everyone else so that’s not at all news. We all know that both Apple founders and MS founders blatantly stole OS and other ideas from Xerox, this is the worst kept “secret” in the world. There isn’t anything wrong with buying companies to acquire their IP, companies in all sectors do it all the time and Apple makes no secrets about it. So far as the rest of the infographic goes, it’s very suspect with only a few facts and the rest is either patently false or very misleading.
