Apple Releases iOS 6.0.1, Fixes Screen Glitch, Camera Flash Issues, and More

Apple has released an update to iOS 6 today. iOS 6.0.1 for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch which addresses a number of bugs, including the screen glitch that would appear while using the onscreen keyboard, an issue that would cause the camera flash not to work, and an Exchange bug.

The update is now available for download through your device’s “Software Update” option in the “Settings”; “General” menu options, or through iTunes. Oddly, the iPhone 5 requires a separate update downloaded, due to a bug in iOS 6 for the device:

The full list of changes, from Apple’s iOS 6.0.1 Software Update page are as follows:

  • Fixes a bug that prevents iPhone 5 from installing software updates wirelessly over the air
  • Fixes a bug where horizontal lines may be displayed across the keyboard
  • Fixes an issue that could cause camera flash to not go off
  • Improves reliability of iPhone 5 and iPod touch (5th generation) when connected to encrypted WPA2 Wi-Fi networks
  • Resolves an issue that prevents iPhone from using the cellular network in some instances
  • Consolidated the Use Cellular Data switch for iTunes Match
  • Fixes a Passcode Lock bug which sometimes allowed access to Passbook pass details from lock screen
  • Fixes a bug affecting Exchange meetings

As always, be sure your device is backed up before you apply any updates.

For those of you that prefer to update through iTunes (or want the firmware for future restores), here are the direct links:
