1984 Apple II Classic Fighter Game Karateka Now Available in App Store

Karateka, the 1984 classic fighter for the Apple II has been released as an HD remake for iOS.

From the Karateka App Store Page:

From PRINCE OF PERSIA creator Jordan Mechner, the original side-scrolling karate classic comes to the iPad and iPhone with stunning graphics and innovative gameplay.

Whether you are a nostalgic Karateka fan or new to the game, Karateka will charm you with its classic love story set in feudal Japan. Fight to save the lovely Mariko from the evil warlord Akuma and reunite her with her True Love!

I played this classic back in the 80’s. (Yes, I am that old.) Although I played on an Atari 800, as I wasn’t lucky enough to own an Apple II. (I need to rectify that some day, eBay here I come!) The new version has been programmed for play on both the iPhone and iPad.

As you can see in the screenshots comparison above, the graphics are much improved. Also, now there are 3 heroes attempting to save the princess instead of the lone hero from the original.

Well, what are you waiting for? Go save the princess!

Available in the App Store – $2.99 (Direct Link)
