Apple Sold 10 iOS Devices Every Second Through The Holiday 2012 Quarter

During Apple’s quarterly earnings call yesterday, in which Apple executives and analysts discussed the company’s all-time record holiday 2012 quarter, Apple CEO Tim Cook revealed that Apple sold over 500 million iOS devices in total – and 10 devices every second for the entire holiday quarter!

TheNextWeb has the breakdown:

Apple sold a record-breaking 47.8 million iPhones and 22.9 million iPads this quarter, at a rate of 6 iPhones per second, and 3 iPads per second. This means that Apple’s iPhone sales are up 23% in comparison to its fiscal Q1 of 2012, when it reported 37 million iPhone sales. iPad sales have grown 33% in comparison to its Q1 ’12, up from 15.4 million iPad sales.

Many investors and analysts still found reasons to be disappointed, however, causing Apple’s stock to drop over 10% after hours following the earnings press release – but it doesn’t seem very disappointing to me! iOS devices are selling like hot cakes!
