Review: Space Settlers – An Engaging Sci-Fi Game for iOS

Are you a big fan of real-time strategy games? Do you love science fiction? How about MMO’s? Well then you might want to check out Space Settlers, from Digiarty Software.  Whether you’re a novice, or an old hand at these types of games, you’ll find something to like in Space Settlers.

Overview

The storyline is engaging from the start. It seems in the year 2012, Scientist Hawking linked his brain with the most powerful computer in the world. By doing this, he made a great contribution to theoretical physics, proving that the “God Particle” he captured can be dated back to 13 billion years ago. Thus, the Time Gate was held open for humans! (It’s science fiction, just go with it.)

Hawking discovered the Dark Energy Crystal, which is then the most powerful energy source in the universe. This led to the beginning of the First Space Settler Age. Guess what you are?

The game has really great graphics and is easy to learn and play. A comprehensive tutorial takes you through the features of the game, and shows you how to complete the tasks you’ll need to be successful at playing the game. You begin building your base in the First Space Settler Age, and you’re led step-by-step, with plenty of rewards along the way to help you get started.

The game is basically about getting your settlement set up, and then either working with, and trading with other settlements, or battling against them to obtain their resources.

Once you’re ready to battle against other settlements, you’ll need to set up mecha chariots. This is what you’ll use in battle. You command the chariots in battle as in a real time strategy game.

Space Settlers can be played either offline or on. I suggest playing offline until you get the hang of it. Once you’re acquainted with the game, I highly recommend going online where you can join a Legion and work with other players.

Verdict

Space Settler will satisfy any lover of real-time strategy games, science fiction, or MMO games. If any of these interest you, I say go for it. The game is free, although you can do in-game purchases of Crystals of Dark Energy.

The graphics, and sound are excellent, and the animation is very good for this type of game. The in game tutorial makes it easy for a newbie to jump into the game and learn as they go forward. The user interface is excellent.

This is a great time killer, for hours at a time, or just to jump in for a few minutes when you can to complete a task here and there.
