Apple is Looking for an Engineer to Improve iMessage and FaceTime

Apple has posted a job opening for an iOS Communications Application Engineer who will help to make improvements to the FaceTime and iMessage applications on the iPhone.

Macgasm:

“Please join us in taking the revolutionary iPhone to the next level,” the description opens with. Apple is seeking someone who has at least a year of engineering experience as well as a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a similar field. “You will be responsible for implementing new features to our existing FaceTime and iMessage applications as well as developing complex applications from top to bottom.”

FaceTime, Apple’s iOS and OS X video calling app, has gone without any love for quite awhile now, and could certainly use some attention. While it’s competent at doing what it’s designed to do, additional features like group calling would make it more attractive when compared to apps such as Skype.

Added features and reliability improvements to iMessage, Apple’s iOS and OS X SMS messaging replacement, would surely be warmly received by its users, who are using it to send approximately 2 billion messages a day.
