Apple Rumored to be Using ‘Spaceship” Campus Designers for New Store Design

Apple is reportedly looking for fresh ideas for the designs of its retail stores, and it has turned to the design firm that is responsible for its “Spaceship” campus design.

Apple is said to have tapped Foster + Partners for a fresh take on its Apple Stores, according to a new report on Wednesday from Marketing. Sources close to the project reportedly said the two companies are collaborating on future Apple Store designs.

Foster + Partners is the firm that designed Apple’s forthcoming “spaceship” campus. That project, expected to be completed in 2016 and initially priced at $3 billion, has reportedly ballooned to $5 billion, although Apple is reported to be looking for ways to cut costs.

In the past, Apple has worked with 8 Inc on the designs for its Apple Stores. The firm designed Apple’s famed Fifth Avenue store in NYC, and also the Regent Street location in London.

Apple received a trademark on the distinctive design of its retail stores earlier this year. The company’s retail locations saw 120 million visitors in the fourth quarter of last year.
