Twitter Video Sharing App Vine is the Top Free App in the US App Store

Twitter Video Sharing App Vine is the Top Free App in the US App Store

Vine, Twitter’s video-sharing app, is now the top free app in the iOS App Store. The app’s tight integration with Twitter has exposed followers to the app via short clips posted to the social service.

The Verge:

Released back in January, Vine was well-received by the press and has been the most-downloaded app in the “Social Networking” category many times. In the two-and-a-half months since its release, it has slowly climbed the overall US “free app” charts before reaching number one yesterday. Vine co-founder Rus Yusupov announced the milestone in a tweet claiming Vine is now “the number one most popular app in the world” (it’s not).

The app has been promoted frequently on the App Store as a “featured app.” While the app has been downloaded enough to take the top free app title in the App Store, Twitter has not as yet released solid figures as to how many people actually are using Vine once it is installed on their device.
