iPhone 5S and 5C Release Date All But Confirmed by AT&T Vacation Blackout (Update: Verizon too!)

iPhone 5S and 5C Release Date All But Confirmed by AT&T Vacation Blackout (Update: Verizon too!)

The evidence for a mid-to-later September release of the new iPhone 5S and/or iPhone 5C keeps piling up, as  AT&T is reported to be joining T-Mobile in blacking out vacation dates for its employees in the second half of the month. According to a report from the occasionally accurate BGR, AT&T has apparently blocked all employee vacation days from mid-September onward.

Also worth noting is that BGR’s sources claim that the vacation blackout does not relate to any other major device launches, but is instead specifically related to Apple’s September iPhone announcements. It’s the sort of thing we expect to see leading up to Apple’s September 10th media event – and similar confirmation has arisen every other year I’m aware of. Looks like that September 10th announcement and September 20th launch date are pretty well in the bag.

The iPhone 5S, and to a (slightly) lesser extent, the iPhone 5C, have been all-but confirmed. And in the case of the iPhone 5S, it’s a pretty safe bet (collaborated by well-sourced analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, iMore editor in chief Rene Ritchie, 9to5Mac reporter Mark Gurman, and MG Seigler of TechCrunch, and more) that we’ll also see a champagne or gold color option, up to 128GB of storage,  significant under-the-hood upgrades (including a new custom Apple A7 chip with 64-bit processing), dual-LED Flash, a larger battery, a vastly improved camera, and more.

Will you be upgrading?

Update: Same vacation block also happening at Verizon!
