BitTorrent Sync – P2P Based Dropbox Competitor now Available on iPhone

The people who brought you µTorrent have announced the release of BitTorrent Sync for the iPhone, their P2P Dropbox competitor.

GigaOM:

iPhone and iPad users can now automatically sync folders between their mobile devices and their desktop computers, share files with other mobile users or back up their photos to their computer. Data transfers are automatically encrypted, so it’s impossible that those photos accidentally get into the wrong hands. And the best thing: Sync is completely free, and usage is unlimited.

BitTorrent began alpha testing of the app in April, with a beta launch on Windows, OS X, Linux and Android in July.

Sync is just one of a number of services launched recently by BitTorrent in an attempt to branch out beyond its traditional file sharing app. Other releases have included SoShare, an app to aid digital media professionals in sharing large files, and also BitTorrent’s live video streaming service.

BitTorrent Sync is available FREE for the iPhone in the App Store. [DIRECT LINK]
