SimCity for Mac Finally Launching on August 29

EA and Maxis’ new SimCity game has seen mixed success on PCs, after facing server issues that marred the initial launch. The Mac version has been delayed numerous times as a result, first from February to June, and then from June back to August in order to prevent similar issues from marring the game’s launch on OS X.

There’s finally some good news, however: The release date for SimCity for Mac has finally become official! Polygon reports that EA has announced that SimCity for Mac will finally launch on August 29th. The PC version of Sim City launched in March, and although its unclear why the Mac version wasn’t launched concurrently, and unfortunate that Mac gamers will have to now wait even longer, a late incident-free launch is still better than no launch at all.

EA previously promised that purchasing the PC version would get you a free copy of the Mac version once it is finally released. If you haven’t already purchased a copy, you can pick up SimCity (download-only version) for $40 from GameFly.com.
