The iPhone 5s Could be ‘Grotesquely Unavailable’ on Friday

If you’re hoping to score a new iPhone 5s, of any color, you may have to get up pretty early in the morning to make your move with any hope of finding your shiny precious.

AllThingsD:

Sources at multiple U.S. carriers said that the inventory of the new phone is significantly less than expected.

“We will have grotesquely unavailable inventory,” was how one carrier source put it.

A source at another carrier store also complained to AllThingsD that the shipments from Apple were extremely disappointing, however also commented that demand for the high-end Apple handset may be slightly less than initially expected, as some think that the iPhone 5c may have taken more of a customer share than was also initially expected.

Both the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c are set to go on sale Friday, September 20th at Apple’s retail stores, and online store, and also at AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless.

Apple did take preorders for the iPhone 5c, and supply for Friday looks to be better than that for the iPhone 5s.
