In a definite departure from their previous Angry Birds games, Rovio looks to be making a move into Mario Kart territory with their new “Angry Birds Go!” franchise. The company debuted the game’s website and a preview video to the public today.
From Rovio’s Angry Birds Go! News Release:
Rovio’s Angry Birds Go! franchise countdown started today with the full reveal of the mobile gameplay, and the global app release date of December 11th, at Brand Licensing Expo in London. Angry Birds Go! will invite players of all ages to join the birds as they race downhill in karts. These new game elements will bring about additional opportunities for innovative product lines across multiple consumer products categories.
There will, of course, be mucho merchandising released in tandem with the game, as the game will allow the use of Hasbro’s TELEPODS™, which players can use to “teleport” new karts into the game. Fashion UK and Leomil, will develop full lines of clothing, accessories and footwear for Europe. And, in the UK, Blueprint will develop a range of stationery products.
