Apple Doubles the Number of App Promo Codes for Developers

Good news for the iOS app developers in our audience, as multiple developers on Twitter report that Apple has recently doubled the number of promo codes that developers can use to promote their apps to reviewers, family and friends.

MacRumors:

The company is now allowing 100 app download codes to be generated with each app update instead of 50, giving developers more codes to share with friends, family, and press.

Developers can generate promotional codes for each app they release or update. The codes allow users to download an app ahead of its official release, and developers generally provide them to the press for reviews. When the allotted number of codes are used up, no additional codes can be generated until the app is updated.

We have confirmed that developers are already seeing the added allotment of codes showing up in iTunes Connect.

An extra 50 codes should give developers a bit more flexibility in promoting their apps.
