Wishful Thinking? – Belgian Retailer Says Apple Is Planning Mac mini Update by End of February

In what could be just a bad case of wishful thinking, a Mac reseller based in Belgium claims it has received “inside information” suggesting Apple will be releasing updated models of its admittedly long-in-the-tooth Mac mini desktop before the end of February.

Mac Mini

AppleInsider:

New Mac mini configurations in both Intel Core i5 and Core i7 Haswell processor configurations have been listed on Computerstore.be. However, the listings are just placeholders representing assumptions made by the store.

However, one shopper who contacted the store about the listings says the retailer believes the new Mac minis will launch by the end of February, based on information the retailer claims to have received from “reliable sources.”

We usually avoid rumors like this, but perhaps we too posted it out of wishful thinking, as the Mac mini lineup was last updated in October of 2012, so a refresh is way overdue. Here’s hoping this is one rumor that bears plentiful fruit.
