Report: Samsung Will Share Production of Apple’s A8 Chip

It was reported last month that Samsung’s low yield numbers had caused it to drop out of production for Apple’s A8 series chips that will be used in upcoming iOS devices. Now comes a conflicting report out of Korea that Samsung WILL be producing a share of the A8-series chips in their Austin, Texas plant.

MacRumors says ZDNet Korea (via GforGames) is reporting that an anonymous Samsung official says the “manufacturing issues” were “exaggerated claims,”and the company is ready to start mass production of the A8 in Q2 2014.

TSMC does appear to have a lead on Samsung however, as a recent report claims TSMC has already started production on the next-generation processor.

Samsung has always been the exclusive producer of Apple’s A-series chips, but the Cupertino company has been looking for ways to avoid relying on their frenemy Samsung for such components.
