Report: Pegatron to Produce Half of All 4.7-inch iPhone 6 Units

DigiTimes reports that Apple supply partner Pegatron will be producing 25 million of the estimated 50 million 4.7-inch iPhone 6 units expected to be shipped this year.

MacRumors:

The report also notes that the rest of the orders for the iPhone 6 are expected to go to Foxconn, who has helped produce iPhone 5s and other Apple devices. Pegatron’s relationship with Apple is said to also have grown tighter recently, as the supplier has managed assembly for the iPad mini and the iPhone 5c throughout the past year.

At this point, it’s not for certain who will handle orders for the much-rumored 5.5-inch iPhone 6. The larger device is expected to see limited supply this year, due to production issues.

Apple is expected to debut its new flagship handset(s) on September 9th, with a launch expected soon after. In addition to larger screens, the devices are expected to boast a faster A8 processor, improved cameras, and better battery life.
