Microsoft Debuts New Office for iPhone Apps – Creating and Basic Editing Now Free

Microsoft has announced the release of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint apps for the iPhone. Microsoft previously offered an “Office Mobile” app for the iPhone that integrated all three apps into one app. Today’s releases replace that app as Microsoft’s Office for iPhone solution.

We’re also delivering Word, Excel, and PowerPoint apps for iPhone® and updates for the iPad apps–to ensure a consistently beautiful and productive Office experience on every device.

Microsoft has also released updates for its suite of Office apps on the iPad. New features include the ability to create and edit documents for free. Those features previously required an Office 365 subscription.

The new Office apps for iPhone and iPad are available starting today. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint can all be downloaded from the App Store. All three of the apps are now Universal, running on both the iPhone and the iPad.

Users wishing to access the full feature set of the Office apps can purchase a one year Office 365 subscription for as little as $67 on Amazon.com.
