Apple has been quietly updating the iCloud.com Photo web app – introduced alongside iOS 8.1 – working to make it a viable option for online photo storage, management, and editing. iCloud Photo Library allows users to sync and access all of their photos on their Mac or iOS devices.

Apple has also been working on a Photos app for OS X, designed to replace both Apple’s iPhoto and Aperture apps on the Mac. The app is designed to work alongside the Photos app on iOS, and the iCloud.com Photos web app. The new Photos app is expected to launch sometime in early 2015.
