Apple Watch-Enabled Apps Begin Appearing in the App Store

The Apple Watch is due to hit store shelves just under a month from now, and Apple Watch-enabled apps are beginning to show up in the iOS App Store.

Apple Watch-Enabled Apps Begin Appearing in the App Store

Apps that include Apple Watch support include MLB.com At Bat, Evernote, Target, and a number of others.

Apple Watch apps are included in iPhone apps as the iPhone drives the app while a UI is displayed on the Apple Watch. While apps that run completely on the Apple Watch are on the way, they won’t be here in the first wave of releases.

iPhone apps with Apple Watch support include:

  • Babbel – Discover words as
you go about your day. Easy and practical exercises let you collect relevant words on your wrist.
  • Dark Sky – Get notifications and check out the weather for the next five days with the Dark Sky app built from scratch for Apple Watch.
  • ECB Cricket – Live matches are displayed and easily navigated by swiping between match screens. Features full scorecard information, including batting line ups and bowling attack. Force touch the scorecard to enable push notifications for your favourite matches. Apple Watch Notifications provide live information straight to your wrist whenever a wicket falls. Our Glance delivers up-to-date scores from the Apple Watch face.
  • Evernote – Dictate notes, get reminders on to-do tasks, and see recently created/updated notes.
  • Expedia – Stay one step ahead with flight and hotel alerts on your Apple Watch.
  • Kitchen Stories – Discover recipe inspiration on your wrist. Enjoy easy access to your shopping list without having to take out your phone. Set your timer and get directly notified when your dish is ready to enjoy
  • MLB.com At Bat – Get live scores, statistics, pitch tracking (regular season games only), player cards, notifications and news.
  • Sky Guide – See a calendar of upcoming astronomical events — the full moon, meteor showers, eclipses, and more. Sky Guide can send you a notification when an event is about to happen in the skies above your location. And it will even alert you when the International Space Station is due to fly over — and let you tweet one of its astronauts.
  • SPG: Starwood Hotels and Resorts – You’ll have easy access to all your favorite SPG app features, including SPG Keyless, accessing your stay details and tracking your account.
  • The New York Times – Catch up quickly with one-sentence stories crafted specially for the small screen. Receive alerts when big news breaks. Use Handoff to continue reading on your iPhone or iPad, or touch Save for Later to build a personal reading list.
  • Target – Add items to your list, including quantity, and check them off as you shop. See aisle locations for your store or ask where to find any item. Check the glance to see when your store is open, how many items are on your list, and how many have deals available.
  • Things – Noted as updated with Apple Watch support, but no specific list of features posted as yet.
  • TransitApp – Get nearby departure times without. Even. Opening. Your. Phone.
  • WeChat – Messaging: Read and reply with text or stickers on Apple Watch. Moments: Get up-to-date with your friends on Apple Watch. Friend Radar: Make new friends without using your phone on Apple Watch.
  • Yahoo Tourney Pick’Em – The Apple Watch app gives an overview of your Fantasy teams with timely notifications, at a glance team overviews, and easy smack talking.

Apple Watch apps will continue to be added to the App Store, and we’ll be sure to let you know about them as they pour in.
