A new batch of photos and a video from French site NowhereElse purport to show the casing for an as yet unannounced “iPad mini 4”. The photos show design elements that look to be inspired by the bigger iPad Air 2.
Many users were disappointed to find the third-generation iPad mini was identical to the third-generation model, with merely an added Touch ID sensor. Recently there have been rumors floated that Apple would do a mid-cycle upgrade of the iPad mini, with design elements inspired by its bigger brother.
The photos and video display a shell with a redesigned speaker grille much like the iPad Air 2. The new shell also indicated the iPad mini 4 may be thinner than the third-generation model.
There is also a lack of a mute/rotation lock switch, which became disposable with the advent of the software mute and rotation lock switch in the Control Center.
