AppleInsider:

Kiosks at Trader Joe’s checkout counters across the U.S. have been seeing upgrades in recent weeks and months to VeriFone touchscreen machines. Some of these payment terminals already advertise that they accept Apple Pay, as seen above at a store in Raleigh, spotted by AppleInsider.

Not all locations have enabled Apple Pay support for their terminals, even if they have already installed the new Verifone terminals. AppleInsider reports that a Friday visit to a Trader Joe’s Brooklyn location showed that its checkout terminals were not yet accepting Apple Pay, although a checkout clerk did confirm that support was on its way.

Managers at two California locations of the grocery chain independently verified that the chain is experimenting with the touchless payments system, but has yet to make a final decision on support.

Trader Joe’s is a California-based privately-owned market chain, specializing in its own private food labels, organic foods, and specialty products. The U.S. chain currently boasts 400 locations coast-to-coast.
