Apple Launches Official Smart Battery Case for iPhone 6s

Apple has launched a new case for their iPhone 6s device. The new $99 accessory is called the iPhone 6s Smart Battery Case, and can extend talk time by up to 25 hours, and internet usage by up to 18 hours.

The case, which is a one piece unit, which slips onto the iPhone, unlike many cases from third-parties that usually come in two-pieces and are snapped onto the device. The material looks to be made of the same silicone material as Apple’s normal cases, and has a credit-card sized hump on the back where the battery resides. There is a soft microfiber lining on the inside to prevent scratching.

Charge your iPhone and battery case simultaneously for increased talk time up to 25 hours, Internet use up to 18 hours on LTE, and even longer audio and video playback.* With the Smart Battery Case on, the intelligent battery status is displayed on the iPhone Lock screen and in Notification Center, so you know exactly how much charge you have left.

The new case is available in both Charcoal Gray and White, and the $99 accessory includes a feature to allow the case’s battery status to be displayed on the iPhone’s lock screen and in Notification Center, much like the Apple Watch’s battery life does. The case is charged via a Lightning port, and allows charging via a normal Lightning cable and the official iPhone Lightning Dock.

There is currently no iPhone 6s Plus version of the case available, but iPhone 6 users can make use of the new case due to the only minor changes made to this year’s iPhone 6s.
