Husband of San Bernardino Shooting Survivor Says he Doubts There’s Anything Valuable on Shooter’s iPhone

Salihin Kondoker, the husband of Anies Kondoker who was shot three times during the San Bernardino attack last December, but survived, says he doubts there is anything of value to investigators on the iPhone 5c used by shooter Syed Farook.

In a letter to the court, obtained by BuzzFeed, Kondoker explained that his wife used a similar iPhone, also issued by the County just like Farook’s, and that because it was a work phone, she did not use it for any personal communications.

Kondoker explained that the County controlled the device, tracking its location, controlling the attached iCloud account, and the carrier account. Kondoker explained that this was “common knowledge” to all employees, leading to the question, why would the attacker use the device to store any information or communication about the attack.

“Why then would someone store vital contacts related to an attack on a phone they knew the county had access to? They destroyed their personal phones after the attack. And I believe they did that for a reason. In my opinion it is unlikely there is any valuable information on this phone.”

Kondoker noted that he believes the FBI did, and still does have access to a variety of information it has so far ignored, saying, “I’m very disappointed in the way they’ve handled this investigation.”
