Rumor: New ‘Deep Blue’ Color to Replace Space Gray for iPhone 7

new report from Japanese website Mac Otakara claims Apple will debut a new “Deep Blue” color option for the upcoming iPhone 7. The new color will replace the current Space Gray option.

MacRumors:

Mac Otakara says Apple plans to discontinue the “Space Gray” color, which was introduced with the iPhone 5s in 2013. The lighter shade replaced the darker slate black used on the iPhone 5. The color has since found its way to other Apple products, like the iPad Air, iPad Pro and 12-inch MacBook.

Apple has been known to shake up the color schemes of its products from time to time, first debuting a white option in addition to the black iPhone 3G. With the iPhone 5s came the “gold is best” option, and most recently, the iPhone 6s added Rose Gold as a color possibility.

In addition to the color option, the report indicates the new iPhone will keep the same LCD glass surface found on current models. That jibes with previous reports that said Apple won’t make any major changes to the device’s display until 2017, when it switches to OLED.

The iPhone 7 is expected to debut at a September media event, and will likely boast an A10 processor, improved waterproofing, faster LTE and Wi-Fi capabilities, and more.

As is usual with reports such as this, the keywords that apply here are “rumor,” “wait and see,” grain of salt,” and “don’t hold your breath, because blue isn’t your color.”
