Siri Gives a Hint That Siri for Mac Might Debut in New Version of OS X on Monday

Apple is widely expected to debut Siri for Mac during Monday’s Worldwide Developers Conference 2016 (WWDC 2016) Keynote Address. And Siri on iOS is already hinting she might indeed be expanding her realm of influence.

When Siri on an iOS device is asked the following specific question “Siri open settings in the window,” She responds with: “It doesn’t look like you have an app named ‘Finder’.” The response was first spotted by Brian Roemmele. (Finder provides access to files and folders, displays windows, and generally controls how you interact with a Mac, it isn’t available on iOS.)

Oddly enough, if the word “Siri” is left out of the query, the virtual assistant responds differently, opens the iOS Settings application.

Apple’s WWDC 2016 will begin Monday, June 13, at 10:00AM Pacific time with the traditional Keynote address, where the company is expected to debut new versions of iOS, OS X, watchOS, and tvOS. A number of new features are expected for Siri, including the aforementioned move to OS X, expanded functionality, and even a third-party development kit for developers to allow their applications to make use of Siri’s powers.

MacTrast will liveblog the WWDC 2016 livestream, beginning at 10:00AM Pacific (1:00PM Eastern). Be here for all the action!
