Popular password app 1Password is now offering its hosted service, which powers its 1Password Families and Teams services, to individuals. Plus, for a limited time, they are offering six months free service.
According to Dave Teare, founder of 1Password developer AgileBits, the new individual hosted service provides users access to advanced features like backend content syncing. Encrypted password, document and data syncing make up the bedrock of 1Password Teams, which launched in June.
The new subscription-based service offers individuals the same services formerly only available to group subscribers. The service supports multi-platform automatic syncing, data loss protection, web access to data via 1Password.com, item history for restoring deleted or modified items, secure document storage and a new multi-factor security system, which incorporates TSL and SSL transfer protocols.
The new service is using the same encryption model it has in previous versions, which means its end-to-end encryption, and all data is encrypted before it ever leaves the device. Parent firm AgileBits can apply its randomly generated 128-bit Account Key in tandem with a master password to offer powerful data encryption.
Users who sign up for a subscription before September 21, 2016 will snag six months of free service, which usually runs $2.99 per month for access to all four 1Password apps, (Mac, iOS, Windows, and Android). It also gives users 1GB of storage, a 365 day item history, web access and more.
AgileBits assures customers that have purchased the app in the past that it will continue to support and sell licenses, as well as the new subscription services, and will supply updates all around. To sign up, visit the AgileBits website.
