Report: Prince Song Catalog Headed to Apple Music, Other Streaming Services Feb. 12

The New York Post reports Prince’s catalog of songs is headed to Apple Music and other streaming services on February 12. Currently, the late artist’s songs are only available for streaming on Jay Z’s Tidal streaming service.

The Post report says a “music insider” indicates the artist’s catalog of work will hit Apple Music, Spotify, Pandora, Google Play and more on February 12, the day of the Grammy Music Awards show. The catalog is expected to become available during the awards ceremony.

The move would mark the first time in 19 months the artist’s catalog of work would be available on multiple streaming networks. Prince pulled his music from all streaming services except for Tidal nine months before his death. Following the artist’s passing, his estate began working out deals to once again make his music available to all of the major streaming services.

The songs that will become available for streaming on the 12th were all recorded during Prince’s time at Warner Music. The streaming rights to thousands of unreleased songs presumed to be in his much-discussed “vault,” are still being negotiated, the Post’s sources told them.

The February 12 Grammys ceremony will feature a tribute to Prince and will star Rhianna, Bruno Mars, and The Weeknd.
