Apple’s Siri Now in Use on Over Half a Billion Devices

Apple’s Siri virtual assistant is now in active use on over a half a billion devices. The information was included in Tuesdays announcement about the HomePod’s February 9 release date.

… Siri, now actively used on over half a billion devices, has developed a deep knowledge of music and understands your preferences and tastes. And with Siri, HomePod can send a message, set a timer, play a podcast, check the news, sports, traffic and weather, and even control a wide range of HomeKit smart home accessories.

The numbers are a substantial increase from the last time Apple shared any stats on the virtual assistant’s usage. During Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference in June, Apple announced Siri was in use on more than 375 million iOS devices each month. This indicates a substantial leap in user numbers following the release of iOS 11.

iOS 11 included several Siri-related improvements, offering more realistic female and male voices, the ability to translate selected languages, and much more.

The virtual assistant is likely to receive a substantial user number boost following the release of the HomePod, which will use the assistant to make music recommendations, offer a large range of music-related commands, answer inquiries on a large number of topics, provide weather updates, control HomeKit devices, and much more.
