Apple Launches New Data & Privacy Site – Allows EU Users to Download Copy of Apple ID Account Data

Apple has debuted a new Data & Privacy website that offers Apple users in the European Union the opportunity to download all of the data connected to their Apple ID account that the Cupertino firm has stored on their servers.

MacRumors:

The data download that users are able to request includes purchase and app usage history, calendars, reminders, photos, and documents stored in iCloud, Apple Music and Game Center statistics, marketing history, and AppleCare support history.

Apple says it will deliver on all data requests within seven days. The download size will depend on the items you select to be included. You will be allowed to choose a maximum file size for the downloads (1GB, 2GB, 5GB, 10GB, or 25GB). Apple will divide the data into downloadable files of this size or less.

The data download option is available to EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland residents just ahead of the upcoming General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) deadline. Apple says it will make the option available worldwide “in the coming months.”

The new website also provides links to allow Apple customers to update their account details, temporarily deactivate their account, or delete it permanently.
