Apple Music Adds Android Auto Support, Song Search by Lyrics to Android App

Apple Music Adds Android Auto Support, Song Search by Lyrics to Android App

Apple on Wednesday added Android Auto support and song search by lyrics to the Android version of the Apple Music app. Song search by lyrics was recently added to the iOS version of the app, with the debut of iOS 12.

AppleInsider:

The latest Apple Music update for Android delivers long-awaited support for Android Auto, Google’s option for interfacing handsets running its mobile operating system with in-car infotainment systems. A beta version of the app with similar functionality arrived late last month

Like Apple Music for iOS, which provides support for CarPlay, the Android iteration allows users to play tunes through an Android Auto-enabled infotainment system. Playback controls are accessible directly through the head unit, though actions are limited to basic operations.

In addition the update brings search by lyrics capability. The new feature allows users to enter snippets of lyrics, which are then used to search Apple Music’s database.

The Android update also debuts Friends Mix, which creates a playlist of songs inspired by your friends listening habits, as well as Apple Music Top 100 charts.

WHAT’S NEW

This update features:
* Android Auto. The best of Apple Music in your car.
* Search by Lyrics. Use a few of the words to find a song.
* New Artist Page. Play an artist with one tap, or browse all of the music with the improved design.
* Friends Mix. A playlist of songs you’ll love from everything your friends are listening to.
* Top 100. Play the daily top 100 songs from countries around the world.

Apple Music for Android is free, and is available for download from the Google Play store.
