How To Request a Copy of Your Apple ID Account Information

Apple users in the US, Canada, and other countries can now download a copy of their personal information stored by the Cupertino firm. Here’s how to request a copy of your personal data from Apple.

As of this article, customers in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland can use the process we’re about to walk you through to request their data. Residents in other countries or regions can still contact Apple to request a copy of their data.

Apple says they’ll complete your request within several days. The time it takes to deliver your data depends on what you choose to include.

How To Request a Copy of Your Apple ID Account Information

  1. Open a web browser on your Mac, PC, or iPad, not on an iPhone), and visit privacy.apple.com.
  2. Enter your Apple ID email and password. (You may need to authorize two-factor authentication on another device.)
  3. You’ll see the Apple ID & Privacy page, click “Continue”.
  4. On the next screen, click the “Get started” link, under the “Get a copy of your data” section.
  5. On the next page, click the selection box next to each category you want to include in the data download. Some categories include “show more” links to reveal sub-categories of data. You can also click “Select All” to, well, select all of your information.
  6. Click “Continue.”
  7. On the next page, you’ll use the dropdown menu to select a maximum files size you want to download. Available choices are: 1GB, 2GB, 5GB, 10GB, or 25GB. If your data is larger than the file size you select, it will be divided into the size you select, or smaller.
  8. Click “Complete Request” to confirm your data request.

You will receive an email from Apple to confirm that it is preparing your data download. You can check the status of your request at any time at: privacy.apple.com/account.
