CES 2019: Withings Announces 3-in-1 Cardiovascular Monitor and Analog Smartwatch With ECG Feature

Consumer electronics company Withings, perhaps best known for their lineup of analog face smartwatches, has announced a new three-in-one health monitor and two new smartwatches, one of which includes electrocardiogram (ECG) capabilities.

The new health monitor device is an upper arm cuff device, called the BPM Core. The new device can take blood pressure, valvular health, and ECG readings. The ECG readings can identify atrial fibrillation or irregular heartbeat.

The inflatable cuff takes blood pressure readings and heart-rate measurements, displaying them on a built-in LED matrix display. The display also includes instant “traffic-light” style feedback to indicate normal, moderately elevated, and high blood pressure readings.

The ECG functionality is enabled by the user placing the hand of their other arm on a stainless steel sensor for 20 seconds. The digital stethoscope feature requires placing a sensor on the users chest for 20 seconds. All results are automatically sent to the Withings Health Mate app.

The BPM Core, which is still awaiting FDA clearance, should hit shelves sometime during the second quarter of 2019.

Withings two new “Move” analog fitness tracking watches both track activity and sleep, and the Move ECG also takes electrocardiogram readings when the user touches both sides of the bezel.

Both watches can recognize and record various activities, such as walking, running, swimming, and more. Both are water resistant for up to 50 meters, and offer up to 12 months of battery life.

The Move is expected to begin shipping on February 5 (pre-orders are already available), and will be available in five color options at $70. The Move ECG will be available in white and black, will cost $130, and will be available the second quarter of 2019.
