2019 iPhone Reportedly Holds On to Lightning Port and 5W USB-A Charger

2019 iPhone Reportedly Holds On to Lightning Port and 5W USB-A Charger

We’ve heard all sorts of rumors about whether the 2019 iPhone will keep its Lightning port or will boast a USB-B port like the new iPad Pro models. Tally another point on the side of keeping the Lightning port.

9to5Mac:

Japanese site Macotakara says that not only will the 2019 iPhone use Lightning, Apple will also continue to bundle the same 5W charger and USB-A to Lightning cable in the box. This is seen as a cost saving measure. It seems that customers wanting faster iPhone charge times will still have to buy accessories, like the 12W iPad charger.

The site claims Apple will keep the Lightning port and USB-A charger in place on the 2019 iPhone in an effort to maintain production costs.

The report claims Apple will bundle the usual Lightning EarPods, Lightning to USB-A cable, and 5W USB-A charger with the 2019 iPhone lineup.

Many (likely most), users will be disappointed to hear this news, as the increased size of the batteries that power the iPhone means it takes longer to charge the devices using the included (and lets face it, outdated), 5W charger.
