Apple Bagged Top Place in Wearables Market in Q4, 2018

International Data Corporation (IDC)  has released a list of the top wearables manufactured company in Q4, 2018 and Apple topped the list. In Q4 of 2018, a total of 16.2 million watches has been shipped, and 10.4 million watches out of them are from Apple.

The wearables market has been increased by 31.4 percent during the fourth quarter of 2018 reaching the new high of 59.3 million units. Apple has garnered 27.4 percent of the market place whereas China’s Xiaomi came in second place with 12.6 percent.

Mi Band 3 of Xiaomi accounts for 30 percent of wearables that have been shipped in the fourth quarter. The shipments of 2018 grew by 27.5 percent as 172.2 million wearables shipped.

With 46.2 million pieces shipped, Apple has lead last year with 26.8 percent share last year and then Xiaomi at 13.5 percent of share.

Huawei bagged the third position as there was a growth of 43 percent in its market in the Q4. As most of the smartphones from Honor and Huawei were bundled with wearables, the company managed to get third place in the list.

Fitbit came in fourth whereas Samsung came last in the fourth quarter with 4 million pieces shipped. Wrist bands have accounted for 30 percent of the market share as the companies like Fitbit, Xiaomi and Huawei are driving them forward. The ear-worn devices grew forward, and their market has grown 66.4 percent, and 21.9 percent of the market is captured with these ear-worn wearables.

IDC Mobile device tracker’s research analyst Jitesh Ubrani has said that the market for -worn wearables has increased a substantially past year and there is much more to come in the future.

On the whole, the market for wearables has grown a lot in the fourth quarter of 2018.
