OWC Offers Lower-Priced RAM Upgrades for New 27-Inch 5K iMacs

Apple on Tuesday announced new iMac models that support up to 64GB of RAM. You may be aware that Apple’s RAM upgrades are, to say the least, expensive. However, Other World Computing (OWC) has announced the availability of memory upgrade kits that allow you to upgrade your new 27-inch 5K iMac more affordably.

There are three RAM kits available, depending on how far you want to go:

  • 16GB Kit (8 GB x 2) OWC2666DDR4S16P – $118.88 (save 40% vs factory / 48% with trade-in)
  • 32GB Kit (16GB x 2) OWC2666DDR4S32P – $229.88 (save 62% vs factory / 63% with trade-in)
  • 64GB Kit (16GB x 4) OWC2666DDR4S64S – $449.99 (save 55% vs factory / 56% with trade-in)

Those prices are a savings of 40% to 62% over Apple’s RAM upgrade pricing, which is a nice piece of change no matter who you are. OWC also offers an option to trade-in your machine’s existing RAM to get a discount.

OWC says it is currently qualification testing 128GB of memory in the new 2019 27-inch 5K iMac and will be confirming whether or not the machine supports it very soon. The system is able to see 128GB installed, but OWC is testing to confirm that the applications and OS fully and reliably utilize this double the factory max configuration.

OWC offers a lifetime limited warranty for its memory kits, as well as a 30 day money back guarantee. For more information or to purchase an upgrade, visit the OWC website.
