Apple Celebrates U.S. Women’s World Cup Championship With Homepage Tribute

Apple is celebrating the United States Women’s World Cup win with a Memoji celebration on their homepage. U.S. visitors to the Apple website will see a Memoji-themed tribute at the top of the page.

The animated graphic uses a combination of Memojis and iMessage effects to create a USA Women’s Soccer celebration. The quick celebration includes confetting and soccer balls.

The United States Women’s national soccer team won the World Cup on Sunday, defeating the Netherlands 2-0 in the World Cup Final. The world Cup victory was the U.S. team’s second straight World Cup title, it’s fourth overall.

The U.S. team rode the back of two goals scored by Megan Rapinoe and Rose Lavelle in the second half. Team manager Jill Ellis remained unbeaten in World Cup play and became the first manager to win the tournament twice.

Apple traditionally adds celebratory messages to its homepage when certain teams win big games. Last month saw Apple offer a tribute to the Toronto Raptors on its Canadian website after the team won the 2019 NBA Championship.
