Apple to Donate to California Wildfire Relief Efforts

Apple will be making a donation to California wildfire relief efforts, Apple CEO Tim Cook announced on Twitter on Monday.

It has been a dangerous fire season so far in the state of California, with the Kincade fire in Sonoma County in Northern California that has burned more than 65,000 acres, and the Getty fire in Southern California. Both fires continue to rage, forcing hundreds of thousands of folks to evacuate in both areas.

Combined with dry conditions found in California, the high winds California experiences during this time of year help the fires to quickly burn out of control. California Governor Gavin Newsom has declared a statewide emergency.

Although power company PG&E has cut the power to millions of customers in an effort to avoid fires, it didn’t stop the Kincade fire. (PG&E had been found responsible for last year’s Camp Fire.)

Apple has a history of providing aid in the wake of natural disasters, including last year’s California fires.
