Alleged ‘iPhone 12’ Molds and CAD Images Could Reveal Appearance of 2020 iPhones

A new set of images released on Sunday by Twitter user @Jin_Store allegedly features iPhone 12 and ‌iPhone 12‌ Pro molds. If they are real, they offer a new look at what we might see for the design of the 2020 iPhone lineup.

The molds resemble what we usually see in the time leading up to the announcement of new iPhones, and appear to be physical molds based on what could be leaked schematics used by third-party case manufacturers to develop cases of new devices.

The mold designs shown in the images do jibe with the other rumors we’ve seen from supply chain sources about Apple’s upcoming new iPhones. The photos show iPad Pro-style flat edges that show a significant departure from the design language of previous iPhones.

It should be noted that the notch on the front screen doesn’t appear to be any smaller than previous models, but this may simply be because case makers wouldn’t need to have an accurate replica of that portion of the device.

The mold images appear in all four sizes that the 2020 iPhone lineup is said to be available in, A 5.4-inch ‌‌iPhone 12‌‌, a 6.1-inch ‌‌iPhone 12‌‌, a 6.1-inch ‌‌iPhone 12‌‌ Pro, and a 6.7-inch ‌‌iPhone 12‌‌ Pro Max.

@Jin_Store also posted numerous CAD renders, which are often shared online as official designs from production factories but are instead usually made by case makers to represent the design of unreleased devices.

While the designs closely resemble other leaks, although the expected 3D camera setup is missing in the renders.

Production of the 2020 iPhone lineup is expected to begin next month, and the new devices are expected to be unveiled in September.
