iPad Pro With Mini-LED Display, A14X Chip, and Expected in First Half of 2021

Twitter account @L0vetodream today claimed Apple has plans to launch new iPad Pro models boasting a Mini-LED display, an A14X chip, and 5G connectivity during the first half of 2021.

The increasingly reliable Twitter account claims the new iPad Pro models will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X55 modem, which supports both mmWave and sub-6GHz. mmWave promises ultra-fast speeds at short distances, which is ideal for dense urban areas. Sub-6GHz 5G is generally slower than mmWave, but the signals travel further, which provides better service for suburban and rural areas.

While Apple’s iPhone 12 models are expected to use the Qualcomm modem, the company is reportedly developing its own 5G baseband technology for future devices. Apple acquired Intel’s smartphone modem business last year.

While other rumors have floated the possibility that a later 2020 refresh was in the cards for the iPad Pro, Apple just refreshed the iPad Pro in March, although that was admittedly a minor refresh. However, two refreshes of the product in the same year would be somewhat unexpected.

The anonymous @L0vetodream Twitter account has made accurate predictions in the past, revealing several details about the new iPhone SE, and new iPad Pro models.
