Ming-Chi Kuo: First ARM-Based Macs to be Redesigned iMac and 13-Inch MacBook Pro – Late 2020/Early 2021 Launch

Well-connected Apple industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says Apple plans to debut its first ARM-based Macs at WWDC 2020. That comes from an investor’s note from today. (Via MacRumors)

Kuo says the first Mac models to be powered by ARM processors will be the 13.3-inch MacBook Pro and the iMac, which will boast a redesigned form-factor. He expects the actual launch of the new Mac to take place in the fourth quarter of 2020 or early in 2021.

(1) ARM13.3-inchMacBookPro:
The new model’s form factor design will be similar to that of the existing Intel 13.3-inch ‌MacBook Pro‌. Apple will discontinue the Intel 13.3-inch ‌MacBook Pro‌ production after launching the ARM 13.3-inch ‌MacBook Pro‌.

(2) ARMiMac:
‌ARM‌ ‌iMac‌ will be equipped with the all-new form factor design and a 24- inch display. Apple will launch the refresh of existing Intel ‌iMac‌ in 3Q20 before launching the ‌ARM‌ ‌iMac‌.

Kuo expects the ARM-based 13-inch MacBook Pro’s design to be similar to the current 13-inch MacBook Pro. Apple will discontinue the Intel-powered version, The iMac will feature a 24-inch display, along with an all-new form factor design.

Apple is expected to refresh the existing Intel iMac in the third quarter of 2020, which is in line with previous rumors about an iMac refresh that could occur as soon as WWDC.

Kuo says all new 2021 Mac models will be equipped with Apple-made processors, and that it will take 12 to 18 months for the entire Mac lineup to transition to ARM processors.
