Apple is reportedly working on a fix for the Bluetooth bug in macOS Big Sur running on M1 Macs. The issue causes peripherals, such as keyboards and mice to randomly disconnect.
Many users have experienced random disconnects of Bluetooth accessories on their Apple Silicon M1-equipped Mac mini, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air devices. The issue affects both third-party and Apple accessories, including the Magic Keyboard.
While some users report that resetting Bluetooth fixes the issue, it doesn’t prove to be a permanent fix.
A tweet from The Atlantic writer Ian Bogost spotted by The 8-Bit, says Apple is aware of the issue and is working on a solution.
Solved my M1 Mac Bluetooth issues by plugging in my keyboard and buying a Logitech mouse with its own Bluetooth dongle.
(Apple tells me a MacOS fix is in progress and forthcoming just about anytime. But jeez.)

As mentioned in Bogost’s tweet, some users have resorted to using third-party Bluetooth dongles as a work-around, although reports indicate these users are having only mixed results.
