Mass Production of A15 Chip for iPhone 13 Set to Begin Ahead of Schedule

Apple processor production partner TSMC is set to begin shipping mass quantities of Apple’s upcoming A15 chip, which is destined for the iPhone 13, ahead of schedule at the end of May. That information comes as part of a report to be published on Wednesday by DigiTimes.

The new chip will be based on an enhanced version of the 5nm process, which was first used for the A14 Bionic chip, used in the iPhone 12 and 2020 iPad Air lineups. The new chip is expected to offer improved performance and power efficiency.

While Apple’s iPhone 12 lineup launched a bit late last year, due to issues brought about by the coronavirus pandemic, Apple looks to be on track to release the iPhone 13 during its normal month, September.

In addition to the new A15 processor, the new iPhone 13 is expected to boast a ProMotion 120Hz and always-on-display for at least some models.
