Instagram Testing Web Browser-Based Posting

Instagram Testing Web Browser-Based Posting

From the beginning, Instagram has been a smartphone-centric social network, officially supporting only smartphones, with no official tablet or desktop support. However, things could be about to change.

Developer and leaker Alessandro Paluzzi has tweeted his discovery of Instagram code that indicates the social photo network is working on the ability to upload photos and videos from a desktop web browser. The images Paluzzi shared on Twitter, show how browser-based Instagram users could soon boast the ability to drag and drop photos and videos for uploading from their computer, crop them, apply filters and add text before publishing them to the Facebook-owned social network.

No one is certain when these features may hit public users, but Paluzzi mentions in a follow-up tweet that “This feature is currently being tested only internally. Don’t expect to be able to use it anytime soon.” And, as with any testing like this, the service could decide to drop the feature altogether.
