Apple Debuts iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max – ProMotion Displays, A15 Bionic Chip, Up to 1TB Storage

Apple today unveiled the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. The new “Pro” handsets feature brighter Super Retina XDR displays with ProMotion, upgraded cameras, a new Sierra Blue color option, and up to 1TB of storage.

The new Pro models boast a new A15 Bionic chip with a six-core CPU and a five-core GPU. This variant of the A15 chip contains one extra GPU core than the one used in the ‌iPhone 13‌ mini and ‌iPhone 13‌.

The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro max sport 6.1 and 6.7-inch display sizes, which feature a 20% smaller notch, providing more display area for the brighter Super Retina XDR display which boasts ProMotion that provides refresh rates from 10Hz to 120Hz.

The stainless steel frame has a custom finish and there is a new Sierra Blue color option available, along with Graphite, Gold, and Silver.

The ‌iPhone 13‌ Pro’s battery life lasts 1.5 hours longer than the ‌iPhone 12 Pro‌ and the ‌iPhone 13‌ Pro Max lasts 2.5 hours than ‌iPhone 12 Pro Max‌. The extended battery life is thanks to the efficiency improvements of the A15 Bionic chip and larger batteries.

The new handsets’ rear camera array contains new Telephoto, 77mm Ultra Wide, and Wide lenses with larger sensors and apertures, and sensor-shift stabilization for reduced camera shake. The ‌iPhone 13‌ Pro features a 6x optical zoom range thanks to a new 3x Telephoto camera.

The Ultra Wide camera also features autofocus and a new macro photography mode allowing users to take close-ups up to 2cm away from an object.

The new iPhone Pro models also feature a new “cinematic mode” that can blur the background in video in real-time, can track objects and people, and rack focus. Night Mode is also available on the rear camera.

Photographic Styles allows users to bring their personal photo preferences to every image while still benefitting from Apple’s multi-frame image processing. Preset and customized preferences work across scenes and subjects, and unlike a simple filter, intelligently apply the right adjustments to different parts of the photo to ensure the important elements, like skin tones, are preserved. For the first time ever, Night mode comes to all cameras on iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, including the Telephoto camera.

Both Pro models can now connect to more 5G bands using custom antennas and radio components. Both devices are also available with up to 1TB of storage, the largest storage option ever offered in an iPhone.

The ‌iPhone 13‌ Pro starts at $999 and the ‌iPhone 13‌ Pro Max starts at $1,099. ‌Pre-orders open on Friday 17 September, with availability to customers on Friday, 24 September.
