Apple to Give Retail Employees Up to a $1,000 One-Time Bonus

Apple to Give Retail Employees Up to a $1,000 One-Time Bonus

Bloomberg reports that Apple is planning on giving a one-time bonus of up to $1,000 to its Apple Store employees. The bonuses will go to retail employees that have been working during the ongoing pandemic.

The iPhone maker will give $1,000 to retail staff hired before March 31, while anyone who joined after that date will receive $500, says Bloomberg’s sources. New workers for the holiday shopping season will get $200. The bonuses will also go to AppleCare and online sales workers as well.

This is an unusual move by Apple who doesn’t often give bonuses to its retail staff. The last bonus payout occurred in 2018 when Apple granted $2,500 in restricted stock units to most of its employees, including those working at Apple Stores. The bonuses were handed out to most employees below a director level.

The $1,000 bonuses will be given out as paychecks rather than as stock units and are intended as a thank you to employees for their efforts during the pandemic.
